With great sadness, we are announcing that Bone Away From Home will be closing at the end of April. All good things come to an end – it is time that we move onto new adventures and opportunities.
We are not taking new dogs for daycare or boarding. All customers are encouraged to use their daycare credits over the next three weeks.
The last day of daycare will be April 29th, 2022.
We are happy to schedule boarding for currrent customers through April 29th, 2022.
Is there an age limit?
Oregon requires that all dogs be at least 4 months old. We prefer to have dogs be at least 6 months old, however, we know that everyone matures differently and we are happy to set up a Greet and Treat for your puppy to see if they would be a good fit for Daycare or Boarding. All dogs, regardless of age, must have all vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella) prior to coming to daycare or staying over night with us.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
In order to maintain a safe and healthy environment, we require that all dogs have up-to-date vaccinations for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. We also ask to have current veterinary and emergency contact information on file.
All dogs must be treated with an effective form of flea control.
What if my dog is sick? Can he come in for daycare or boarding?
Just like people, dogs feel under the weather sometimes, but to keep our whole pack safe and healthy, we ask that you do not bring your sick dog in for daycare.
If we see signs of illness in any of our daycare or boarding guests, we separate that dog from the pack immediately and contact the owners. We may ask you to come and pick up your dog from daycare and just like kids, we ask that your dog stay home until he is feeling better and is no longer contagious.
Some illnesses are not contagious and as long as you notify us ahead of time, we can work to make your dog comfortable and happy while he stays with us.
Will you give my dog her medication?
We would be happy to administer most non-injection medication for your friend. You must provide clearly written instructions and dosage for all medication.
We reserve the right to decline boarding or daycare privileges based on the medical needs of each guest. Please call in advance to ensure that we can properly care for your dog.
Does my dog need a collar or harness?
Yes, we require that all dogs who are playing with the group wear a collar or harness. If your dog has a fancy or specialized collar, please let one of our staff members know – your dog can borrow one of our community collars for the day.
My dog has trouble interacting with other dogs, can he still come in for daycare or boarding?
We want all our guests to be comfortable and happy. All dogs must participate in an evaluation prior to boarding or coming in for daycare. If you need to board a dog who is not social, we can keep them separate from the pack and spend one-on-one time with them. We do not have the ability to take regularly scheduled daycare dogs who cannot play with others.
We will not take dogs who react aggressively toward other dogs or people.
What do I need to bring for my dogs when they stay overnight?
Please bring food for your pet, especially if they have a special diet or prefer a certain brand. We have house food available for an additional charge.
You can bring whatever you think your four-legged friend will need for their stay. If your dog has special toys or a bed, please feel free to bring those in. We like to remind our guests that some dogs can get nervous when staying away from home and may chew on their bedding – keep this in mind when choosing what to bring for their stay.
Please remember to take all your personal items home. We are not responsible for lost of stolen items.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you cancel your reservation at least 7 days in advance.
We ask that all reservations for boarding on holidays be held with a credit card. If you cancel your reservation less than 7 days prior to your scheduled check-in, one night’s boarding fee may be charged.
No-shows are charged the full amount of the reservation during major holidays.
Do you require that my dog be spayed/neutered? Will you take my dog in heat?
We have a waiting list for new, intact dogs who want to come in for daycare. Please call for boarding inquiries as we may be able to accommodate intact boarding guests.
Due to the high number of new puppies we have coming in, our daycare has reached capacity for intact dogs. We are happy to add your name to the waiting list and let you know when a spot opens or you are welcome to bring your dog in for daycare once they are fixed.
We cannot take regularly scheduled daycare dogs who will remain intact – all daycare dogs must at some point be spayed or neutered.
If you would like us to add your name to the waiting list, please call or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
We do not have anything specifically against intact dogs, however, we are only able to accommodate a limited number and each dog is evaluated on a case by case basis. We also may refuse to take your dog for daycare on any given day if we already have a number of intact dogs checked in.
We ask that all clients keep us informed of when they are going to spay or neuter their dog.
We cannot take your dog while she is in heat. Dogs in heat tend to excite the whole pack and can lead to negative behavior.
What if I am late picking up my dog?
All boarding prices are based on a 24 hour period. If your canine friend stays longer than 24 hours, a half day daycare fee may be applied. Please schedule a check out time with our staff.
If you arrive after hours to pick up your dog, please call our emergency line and we may be able let you into the facility to pick up your dog. One night’s boarding fee, in addition to your original daycare fee, will be charged for any dogs picked up from daycare or boarding after hours.
Emergency Contact: (971) 344-8580
What if I am working early or late?
On occasion, we can schedule an early drop off or late pick up for your dog. There is an additional fee of $15 for picking up or dropping off your dog outside normal business hours. This MUST be scheduled in advance.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We do not accept walk-ins. To get to know you and your dog better, we ask that you schedule a Greet and Treat prior to your first day of daycare. This allows us to focus on your dog and really understand their personality and individual needs. We can also ensure that all dogs are safe and secure while giving you a tour of the daycare.
We recommend that reservations be made in advance for boarding during holidays.
Why is the door locked?
We keep the front door locked at all times in order to ensure the safety of all our guests. Please call (503)206-8903 or ring the bell and we will let you in to play.
What do I do if my dog has a half-day daycare package, but we stay longer than 5 hours?
We would use a half-day of daycare from your package and you would just need to pay the difference in price when picking up your dog.
